Natural Anti Aging Skin Care

As we get older, many of us start to check regularly in the mirror to see what effect time is having on ourface. It’s not great when our once-youthful glow begins to be replaced by lines, wrinkles and saggy bits as our skin loses elasticity. Of course, it’s not just the passing of time that does the damage. Our lifestyle, diet and our exposure to the elements all play their part in how we look as we age. There are many anti-aging skin care products on the market which claim to slow down or even reverse the signs of growing older. These are a perfectly good solution for a great many people, but there are those who would rather not use chemicals on their skin. So what’s the alternative? Many people prefer all natural skin care, using natural anti-aging skin care products based on simple ingredients. Others take a proactive approach to help slow the aging process.

Most alternative therapy practitioners believe that outward appearances reflect what’s going on inside a person, and so the most effective natural anti-aging skin care product isn’t something you put on your face, but rather what you put into your body. And so, when planning a holistic approach to anti-aging skin care, you need to look at the whole body. Holistic practitioners believe that skin problems show that something is going wrong inside the body, with the underlying causes needing to be remedied rather than the problem itself.

Not surprisingly, natural anti-aging skin care starts with what you eat. Eat a healthy and varied diet rich in natural foods, and you will gain valuable nutrients that help keep your skin in good condition. Drinking plenty of water will be of enormous benefit too as it helps rid your body of toxins.

There are several vitamins and minerals that may be valuable as natural anti-aging products. These include zinc, starflower oil and vitamins C and E. Zinc, as well as being essential for a good immune system, is also used by the body in the production of new tissue growth. Starflower oil, a supplement I use daily, is a rich source of GLA, an essential fatty acid which promotes healthy skin. Vitamins C and E are powerful antioxidants which can help maintain a youthful appearance. Some people use Vitamin E by applying it directly to the skin, piercing the capsule and smoothing it over lines, wrinkles and scars to reduce their appearance. There are many other natural supplements with skin-enhancing properties, but be careful. Although natural, they can still be harmful if taken to excess, so check before adding them to your diet.

Certain plant-based oils can be used for natural anti-aging skin care. These include jojoba, wonderful blended with essential aromatherapy oils, olive and almond. Many makers of natural skin care products use these oils as a base for their creams. In a similar vein, there are lots of foods you can use topically, for instance in face masks, that will help you maintain a healthy complexion. These include oats, bananas, honey, lemon and many more.

There’s no question that using a healthy approach as well as natural anti-aging skin care products will have a positive impact, not only on how your skin looks, but in your overall well-being.  So, in taking care of your skin, you’re actively improving your chances of a longer life too. What could be better?
