Natural Acne Treatment

I’ve spent a lot of time looking for the perfect natural acne treatment. During my search I’ve discovered a huge and varied selection of suggested treatments, some sensible, some downright crazy. A recurring theme seems to involve diet and it does seem that in many cases what a person puts into their body can have a direct effect on their complexion. Amongst these diet-related natural acne treatments was one that seemed at first to be nonsensical. It was the suggestion that, in order to rid themselves of acne and get clear skin, a person should skip breakfast.

Of course, this goes against current nutritional guidelines. We all know that eating a good breakfast is beneficial for our health, our weight and our brain power. In fact, many nutritional experts consider it to be the most important meal of the day. The argument for skipping breakfast as a natural acne treatment seems contentious to say the least, but there may be a valid argument for using this method of keeping skin clear and blemish-free.

Our morning meal is of course shortened from the term ‘break the fast’, the fast being when we are sleeping at night. Those who advocate missing breakfast believe that instead of eating first thing a glass of water should be drunk. They also believe that only water should enter the body before midday, giving the body time to cleanse itself of the previous day’s food. The water acts as a natural acne treatment by flushing out the acne-causing toxins that have built up in a person’s system.

It does seem a little extreme, but those people at their wit’s end over their complexion may want to try out. Many of us, despite the health warnings, miss breakfast occasionally because we’re in a rush or because we have overindulged the day before. If you have the luxury of being able to stay in bed until late, then skipping breakfast as part of a natural acne treatment may work for you. Most of us, though, have to get up and go to work or school in the morning, and an empty stomach can be uncomfortable as well as wreak havoc with blood sugar levels.

Those who believe in this method of skipping breakfast to get clear skin claim that you will notice the difference in just a few days. Whether you decide to try it out depends on how much of a problem your acne is. As with all methods of natural acne treatment, just because it’s natural doesn’t necessarily mean it’s good for you. Find out the facts, get testimonials, check with a health professional, and then decide whether a few mornings of hunger are worth it to try and improve your acne problem. It’s up to you.
