Acne Makeup With A Light Touch

However hard we try to avert them, facial outbreaks of acne do happen from time to time. Regardless of how healthily you’ve eaten, how much water you’ve drunk or how good your skincare routine has been, sometimes there’s nothing you can do to stop the outbreak. Unless you want to become a recluse for several days, the solution is to use acne makeup.

Putting on any kind of makeup takes practice, and we’ve probably all been guilty at times of trying to cover up blemishes with a lot of  makeup. It just doesn’t work. Thick layers of concealer and foundation dry up around the pimples and accentuate them. As with makeup in general, the rule about putting on acne makeup is less is more. In other words, use a light touch. A touch of concealer dabbed on, followed by a small amount of lightly applied oil-free foundation, and finally a gentle dusting of loose powder to set everything, and your complexion looks much better. Also good are lightweight mineral powders that cover and add luminosity to your face.

If you want to treat the blemishes as well as cover them, then there are acne makeup products that can do just that. Acne makeup is medicated and anti-bacterial, working on healing your skin while at the same time concealing the redness. It’s a good idea to test the acne makeup on your skin before using for the first time. Apply a little under your chin and wait 24 hours to see if your skin gets irritated. If all is well, apply the acne makeup, still making sure you use a little rather than a lot.  In no time your skin will be back the way it should be.
